About Sketchvelle

Art that notices the small magic in real things.

Hello, I'm Chevelle! I'm an Australian artist and designer who loves creating works that bring joy by capturing the small, whimsical details.

Sketchvelle is my little online gallery and sketchbook: a place for finished collections, process notes, experiments and the behind-the-scenes bits from my creative life.

I love capturing the world around me through drawing and painting, blending realism with a touch of whimsy to capture the magic of being alive.

I’ve been creating art for my whole life. I’ve done a bit of everything - acrylics, oils, watercolours, pencils, markers, digital, but today I mainly work with pen and watercolour for traditional art and with Procreate for digital art. I love capturing everyday slice-of-slice moments and the things I love most in the world - currently Formula 1, nature, birds and crystals.

I’m a graphic designer by trade and currently work in government communications, where I’m lucky I get to apply my love of creativity by developing impactful communication strategies on complex policy topics.

“Your art is so incredible! I am in love with your style. The realism aspect, but it also has a kind of magical, whimsical quality. I love how you capture the world. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents.”

What you’ll find here

A few of my favourite things

Travel sketches

I love urban sketching and using art to combine the solemnity of architecture with the movement and life of humans going about their days. I love streetscapes and capturing a sense of place through ink and watercolour.

Illustration and posters

Combining my graphic design technical skills with my art practice gives me the best of both worlds! From posters inspired by Formula 1 races to soft wedding signage, I love the opportunity to bring art and design together.

Pet portraits

Possibly the thing I love most about making art is bringing joy to others by immortalising their beloved furry and feathered friends in a portrait.

Sketchbook notes

A place where I can indulge my love of writing by sharing behind-the-scenes thoughts, process notes and other happenings from my many other creative hobbies!
